Is it possible at all to use a Nintendo Wii or Gamecube to assist in rendering? I'm assuming not… I'm aware they both have processor's under 1 GHz, I think it would just be cool to use them that way.

I don't know if thats poss but even cooler would be to use the wii remote to control animations and parameters in Houdini.. ! which is what i'm going to do soon. You can find info on net it pretty popular subject.

Basically its Wii to Midi to Houdini, different progs can translate wii info into midi depending on pc/mac.

good luck

Yea, they also had a guy use the nunchuck to control something similar to a robot arm.

I've found that using a processor that is much slower than the rest of the machines in a network rendering group will actually slow the process down more than not using it at all (not very intuitive, I know). So even if mantra was able to run on those systems, it probably wouldn't help.

As for using the controllers, if you're on a Windows system, you can install the joystick CHOP to receive input from any DirectX compatible controller. Just run “proto_install” on the command line to install it.
