how do i control the height of the waves while using the ripple solver. i might increase the magnitude of the bulge, but that still doesn't give me the control i wish.

Hi .. i am using seed votricle field to displace my smoke… i want to render out these vorticles, may be attach spheres to each vorticle.
I can display them in view port by clicking on ‘display points’.. however there is no visualization attached to these points. How do i get to render them or attach sphere to them and there by rendering the movement of these vorticle?

as i understand there is no way to instance fur with any other geometry…however i was wondering if there is a way to apply a texture map to each individual strand of fur?

something else i have noticed is ….when i am using the mouse and place the cursor over a tab, the tooltip pops much quicker as compared when i am using Wacom.. and at times really long !!

ohh man it sure was a simple sim, wanted to get the palm tree kind of effect … what was i thinking !!! …jus one of those dumb moments (day's in fact!!) … just had add a force pop + drag pop and then top it up with a trail sop
BUT instead …. i put a group pop on the emitter …gave an expression $AGE>2 … and once the particles were out, influence them with force and drag pop …. which obviously didn't get me the desired result

hi .. am trying this simple particle sim….well at least i thought i was simple till i started doing it … am sure its not too difficult, though i am just not able to get it right.
what i have a is a blast happening (emitter in a popnet) with a trail sop and the particles should gradually start falling down(affected by gravity)
attaching the file with it…help appreciated

hi allegro… yes in fact the problem cropped up only after seeing this video no.9 ) …now if my grid is red and am transferring the color to the points while calling the IF() function in the red channel of the point sop then yes we can maintain the transferred color. But if the color to be transferred is anything other than R,G,B then i am not able to do so.

how about adding a point sop with a “rand” expression called in the color filed …am attaching a file for your reference.

hi .. have a file attached here … what basically i am trying to do is transfer the color on to the particles as they pass a grid … i do manage to do transfer it initially .. that but as the particles travel further away they lose the color and go back to their original color.
how do i maintain this new color throughout?

hi … we have a shot of football stadium and need to fill it up with crowd cheering …. we are executing it in 3ds max … although i have take up the responsibility of testing it up in houdini :shock: …. now any clues where to begin doing something like this .. guess i will have a few cycles of animation clips of individual crowd and then will have to randomize it and duplicate it . Any kind of lead on how to approach this will be greatly appreciated.

what is the difference between (if there is one) the Houdini : Image viewer and GPlay. Also they don't seem to open .dpx files.

Hi and BIG thanks to oleg and ragupasta.
@olega : Yes indeed i could weld the vertices.. but if i weld the vertices at the edit mesh level then the mesh goes for a toss and it is all distorted . there is an option in maya to import the .obj sequence but am not too sure with Max.
