Hey all,
I know that everyone has their non-photorealistic rendering techniques that they want to keep a secret, which is your best interests of course. But can anyone let me know of what things i should be considering when attempting to creating a visually new-looking render?
OR, have all rendering options been explored and there are only variations of them that one can use. If so, can anyone suggest a place to see examples of images of different non-photorealistic rendering “looks?”
Thanks in advance!

Yo fai. I would suggest getting your hands on Advanced RenderMan: Creating CGI for Motion Pictures http://www.amazon.com/Advanced-RenderMan-Creating-Pictures-Kaufmann/dp/1558606181 [amazon.com]. You'll find chapter 16: Nonphotorealistic Rendering with RenderMan very helpful. Everything described could be easily done with VEX shaders and VEX COPs. Good luck dude.
