Particle SOP / Unique Primitives

Let's say I have a small array of Primitives, each a unique shape. I would like to use a grid or sphere to birth these Primitives using a Particle SOP (I dont have POP networks in Houdini Escape). But I don't want to birth all prims with each particle point–I would like a random prim to be birthed per particle point referring back to the array of prims which would be referenced I assume by $PR or $PT or by Particle ID (don't know the variable name for particle ID is it $ID?) . How would I do what I am looking to do?

Hi,
you can try using a switch and copy stamping.

Hi. Thanks! That's a great solution! I was wondering if I were to use a Font Sop as a prim generator and had letters of the alphabet (capital letters so they don't get separated such as a lowercase i or j would), could I use that stamp function in a delete sop and delete non-selected prims based on $PT%$N?

I think yes, you can use stamp directly on the font text or in a delete sop.
Stamp on the font text should be much slower.

Thanks a mil!! That type of configuration was similar to what I was looking to do. I just didn't know the syntax of the substr command and that I could even use it to achieve the goal. Great thinking on your part!
