I have a problem, I'm rendering out an .exr sequence with a couple of image planes. Some of them have the “VEX Type” set to Float Type, the other are set to Vector Type. When I render the image to “ip” so it shows up in mplay all my image planes are there, but when I render to .exr only the Vector Type passes show up. What's the matter with that?
thanks,
Manu

The quick solution is to promote them to vectors. Many compositing packages don't know how to handle arbitrary single channels that aren't part of layers. Even though the exist in the EXR - You can investigate this by using ‘exrheader’.
Nuke for instance sees the channels but to get at them, you need to use a copy node, but you should see them available as other.whatever in your mask operations for instance.

thanks for the answer. I actually tried to promote them to vectors earlier but that gave me a totally different result, it's definitely not outputting what it actually should (compared the results in mplay). In this case I'm talking about creating fire_mask and smoke_mask passes with the Pyro2 shader.
