I applied a voronoi fracture on a sphere mesh, and I want to select the outer pieces and delete them, I tried to use the blast node and set the Group to ‘outside’ but this only deletes the outer faces rather than the whole piece.

I've created simple HIP file for you, please have a look to.
I'm also using compile SOP which is new in Houdini 16 in terms of speeding up cooking.
Switch1 checks if incoming piece has a primitive in outside group it changes to input 1 which is a dummy null.
With compile SOP you can run foreach loop multithreaded.
