How to render alpha-blended particles in Mantra?

Hi! I am losing my mind trying to set the alpha value of a particle system. I have successfully used POP COLOR node to hardcode “Cd” to red. I have attempted to use another POP COLOR node to hardcode attribute “Alpha” to 0.1. While the viewport does show the particles fading out, the Mantra render does not.

I have tried both the default material (what is this anyways, nothing shows in /mat tree…) as well as the classic material, the glow material, the clay material, and the standard material.

Setting the transparency of a particle system is the first thing I tried to do in Houdini, I am so embarrassed and frustrated that I haven't figured it out over a week later… I am used to writing “gl_FragColor.a = 0.1”, but here I feel lost in a labyrinth of black boxes!

Thanks!

I figured it out, I had mistakenly left on the display flag in my DOPNETWORK… transparency was indeed working but it was being overlaid with whatever weird fully opaque geometry the DOPNETWORK generates when its display flag is set.

Thanks!

Thanks for the help by the way! I just realized my original tone was a little too snarky.
