There are places in Houdini - the Volume Trail SOP for example - where there’s a fixed set of five ramps available for visualization, and no way to supply your own. Is there some way to supplement that list? A config file somewhere?

Not AFAIK, but you can use the grayscale ramp and then remap that into a new ramp using the @Cd.x for example.

Thanks for the suggestion - works like a charm. Of course, I just realized that what I really want out of the node is a velocity attribute, so I don’t lose the magnitude.
