Paper/foil wrinkling strategies

I'm fairly new to houdini and trying to build a stop motion paper wrinkling effect. I'm fooling around a bit with Vellum and it's attach to geo constraints. So far I think i can end up with what I need if I can figure out how to get the creases to appear sharper with some mesh post process technique. Does anyone have better/smarter ideas ? The end result needs to be a wrinkled paper wrapping a product up. I was planning on pumping a rigged animated mesh into houdini that closes around the object in the way I want, but have all the simulation just be responsible for the wrinkling.

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.
