Hi Everyone!
I’m new to volumes (env artist trying to widen my horizon, and am struggling in my current project.
My idea is to let my rock slates (green) adjust in their angle with the slope, to get an effect of the sediment layers breaking ad sliding. To do so, i thought of several approaches, but failed miserably. My currently best idea:
Using the distance to surface that should be somewhere in my SDF, use it to transform each point in P(y).
I like this idea a lot, but the issues multiply: I cannot find how to read the distance per point, neither know how to transform Volume points in world space.
There might also be a need to blend between two states based on height, to leave the top bits affected less.
Obviously I don’t understand anything here. I am quite happy with my noise based work in SDFs, but this goes way past those approaches for me. I might have to convert everything to polygons, do the operations here in a behaviour I know, but my urge to learn is higher - also, even if, I am still looking for my distance to the main surface even in polys.
Thank you!
