Local transform on imported geo

Hi friends!

I am wondering if there is a way to move contiguous pieces of geo in one .obj along their local axes. I'm coming from MODO and we would do this easily with a ‘local action center’. I've attached a gif that shows what I am trying to do.

When the pieces I am trying to move are flat, I just use a regular transform node and add a translate value. However, often the pieces I need to move are on a curved surface like the one I'm showing in the gif. When I import the geo, I have all the like-kind pieces saved in one .obj. For example, all of the diamonds are saved in one .obj and the whole ring body is saved in a separate .obj. I don't want to have to break anything up more than that. Can I do a local transform on all the geo in one obj?

I've been doing this in MODO and then re-exporting for use in Houdini but it would save me a lot of time if I can just use the CAD that was provided to me.

Any help or explanations would be greatly appreciated.

It’s a bummer you can’t do this, it would be cool. I remember using this function in xsi quite a bit.
