Animating the attach to geo Constraints to Break on vellum

what i'm trying to do is have an animated object (tube) with four strings attached and i want two of the strings from the top to break off at an animated time. Ive tried a few things where I use a vellum constraint property in DOPS and animated the breaking threshold but it doesn't seem to be working correctly? im using two attach to geo constraints for the top points of the string to follow the animation and glue for the bottom points where the string meets the cloth. I've include a project file if you're interested in helping thanks a lot

when you're testing, trying out things, debugging…there's absolutely no need to overload your scene with high res geos…it's just gonna slow you down, you can't cram in as many tests as possible. Strings are far too dense, grid is far too dense.

Here's a much more simplified scene.

Once you got things going…then upres however you like.
