Understanding Composition in Scene Graph Details Panel

When looking at layer composition in the scene graph details view, I usually see these placeholder layers with no specifier, what are these layers all about?

Those are an optimization for LOPs itself, so that when LOPs needs to start new layers, it's more efficient.
