__Blast By Attrib HDA__ [youtu.be]
Hello everyone, this is my entry for the SideFX Labs Tech Art Challenge 2022.
I have a very simple but handy-to-me HDA called "Blast By Attrib".
It does what it says, sometimes we need to split an incoming model into pieces by attributes present.
This hda takes any attribute, either it be primitive or point attribute and blasts the model by those. Also creates a switch node to look through the newly created pieces.
There's an option to create a file cache or an fbx rop in case if you wanna save them to disc.

Hope this helps anyone, I removed the desktop folder from documents/houdini19.5 folder and worked for me, needed to create new desktops after that though.
I've just tried that and the error keeps poping up.
I'm using 19.0.622
Ah, worked for me, try to rename the houdini19.5 folder to houdini19.5_old or something and start houdini, this should start a fresh houdini and create a new houdini19.5 folder there. If all is okay then there's something wrong with your houdini19.5 folder, I've found the desktop thing this way, maybe something else is creating your issue in that folder.

I have a long history of hard times with math.
I've watched a lot of videos and tutorials explaining matrixes and quaternions in the past but I've never succeeded working with them and always have to fallback to a simpler but more time consuming and expensive methods.
Is there some sort of step by step tutorial that could walk me through using matrixes so I can understand it to the point I could tackle it myself? preferably in houdini.

If I do v@uv2 = @uv, it does copy the values but doesn't show ( say in unreal engine). Also, in the inspector popup, it says uv(Tex) but not uv2(Tex).

What are the requirements to get the UV's to work properly. Evertime I export as a HDA the same asset refuses the work properly. But if I simply export as FBX it works! I'm baffeled.

Hi all!
I am wondering what the best method to export and import a crowd made in Houdini into UE4 would be?
I've tried Game Dev VAT ROP but for some reason my RBD sample shader code leaves out some key aspects (see attachment)
I've tried alembic (which worked well in Maya) but it is a 5gb file and crashes UE4 consistently when importing as Skeletal ABC. Geo Cache worked successfully but the Geo is all mangled as if hit by a mountain noise.
I've tried exporting as an FBX but this also crashes Maya and UE4.
Thought of try a HDA as well but to no avail.
These methods have been exporting the crowdsource from the object level.
If you have any insight, advice or suggestions please let me know.

Transform pieces usually is for destruction, in your case to address the requirement please use transform by attribute.
Check the file attached. You'll be fine even with points from volume, cache them before attribute copy SOP.

art3misI think .abc is the better option. As you can export animated meshes too.

kidkasperHow much you set the TdrDelay to? In substance painter I used 60. How much houdini needs to do a pop source sim ?
I've been having the similar issues since the start of the year, finally fixed it. From what I can tell it was the TdrDelay being too low.
