Hello Vertex23,
I tryed that tut and it works…there was a bracket missing in the first expression but the second one is ok. Maybe you forgot to rename source1 to shockwave_emitter…

Hello!

Yesterday I've searched for the Snail tutorial about using COPs, but I can't seem to find it anymore. Is it included only in version 7 help files or is just missing, because I tryed H8.0.407 and 417 but no results?

Hello! I'm trying the tutorials form http://cade.scope.edu/courseware/notes/houdini/ [cade.scope.edu] and I've reached the Scripting section. In the script sample I have unix mv and unix cp commands, but when I run the script those commands cannot be found. Is there an equivalent, like unix rm => urm ?
I'm using H8.0.383, Windows version

When I render a scene what makes a difference, a high speed processor or a professional video card.

In other words, between this two components (processor and video card) wich one is used for rendering!

Hello!

I have Mozilla Firefox 1.0.6 and I tryed to download Houdini 8.0.317 for win32 and all went fine.

1) Check if you are logged on to sidefx.com when you try to download Houdini
2) Try using Internet Explorer or other browser, maybe this is causing the problem

I don't think there is a texturing tutorial in Houdini directory (or maybe I'm wrong)

Or, you could take a look at how fast_mantra and mantra_sel are configured, see what those parameters do and really understand what is going on in there, I think it will help. And check out Rendering with Mantra5 VTM too:

According to http://www.sidefx.com/journal/ [sidefx.com] there are changes up to version 7.0.421, but from 421 just rebuilds, as I found out from this topic http://www.sidefx.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4199 [sidefx.com]

So there are some differences between Houdini Apprentice 7.0.231 and 7.0.473

I have AMD XP 2200+, 768Mb RAM, GeForce4 MX440 (this is a low budget system

), it takes a while rendering but for me, as a beginner, its just what I need.
