Looking at this training and really like the workflow for point clouds to UE. But it doesn’t seem to be working the same. I’m in UE5.1
Any ideas or tips are much appreciated.

Anyone know how to make radial noise patterns in vops? Would like to do some radial noise displacements on geometry. Thanks in advance.

Double check and make sure your File Path(File Pattern) is referencing what it's supposed to be referencing and also double check the Primitive Path that the correct thing is being sourced from the scene graph. Perhaps if you are using $HIP, the files it's looking for aren't where it's expecting or perhaps the Scene Graph has changed somehow. Those would be my initial guesses to double check.

A reboot of Houdini fixed it, but still curious what I hit to do this if anyone knows.

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Transfer Attributes with Normal Direction

How can I transfer attributes from a normal direction. For example, if I draw a line on a grid and have the normals pointing off to one side of the line, then how can I tranfer attributes from the line to the grid on the side that the normals are facing? I hope that makes sense, I've attached an image as an example. I'm thinking maybe a dot product?

TOPs, yeah that's a really good thought. I really like "Automatic Cache Mode should cook only frames that don't have Output File on disk yet". I hope that works. I'll look at that. Thank you!

Is there any workflows or tips for rendering only missing frames. My farm dropped some frames. Also, I'm rendering with Karma. I don't really want to go to each frame mannually and render if there's a way I can set it up all at once and render what's missing. I think I stacked mantra nodes before to render different frames. I guess python to create karma nodes with frame ranges from a list that stacks and connects?
Thanks for any tips in advance.

Solaris and Karma » Remove usd primvars?

Anyone know how to remove primvars in usd? I've been looking over the documentation at https://openusd.org/dev/api/class_usd_geom_primvars_a_p_i.html [openusd.org] and specifically looked at USDGEOM_API bool RemovePrimvar(const TfToken & name)
It appears the TfToken converts a string path to the primvar to a token? Any support, ideas or further insight about this would be greatly appreciated.

This is Amazing! Thank you. Ive been diving in and learning alot. I'm also trying to figure out how to access and remove primvars. Any special tips are greatly appreciated.
I've been looking at https://openusd.org/dev/api/class_usd_geom_primvars_a_p_i.html [openusd.org]
So far I'm only crashing Houdini 19. Again, any specifics on removing primvars are really appreciated.

Hello,
Anyone know how to change a Name and Path Attribute in Solaris in Houdini. I know that I can add point and prim attributes pretty easily with a wrangle in the sop context, but trying to figure out how to do this on the stage. Just not seeing a lot out there for intro with Python and Solaris to even get started. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I had tried that before. So just I relooked at this (thanks for that) and found the Influence Type "Proximity" like you mentioned. That is really helping. Thank you!

Trying to figure out if there is a way to displace instances economically. I found that I can use a heightfield, extract the height field into a displacement image in cops and then use the image as a displacement map. It works ok, with adding the displacement via vex. But looking for something more economical. Trying to avoid raying/intersect. Was wondering if I can displace at render time. So far displacement at render time isn't working. Hope that makes sense. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a question about specific uvs that have textures. I would simply like to move uv shells into new udims. The layout node reorganizes the shells and thus the texture assignments. I can use a uvtransform to move a set of uvs to a new udim space. But it's not really a udim without attributes so the shaders understand assignments by udims? Maybe I'm overcomplicating it and there's a simpler approach. But I looked in the geometry spreadsheet with a uvlayout to see if I could see where the attributes were landing but didn't see any udim attributes. Any ideas on this? Thanks in advance and hope that makes sense.
