How to log bugs and rfes (sugs) for Houdini
————————————–
Option #1
———–
If you are up to date on your AUP (Annual Upgrade Plan) you can have direct access to our database in order to log bugs and rfe's and view the current status of your bugs. If you don't already have access, please contact your Sales Representative and they'll help you get set up and provide you with all the details. This is by far the fastest and most effective way of getting your issue into the hot little hands of the developers.
http://service.sidefx.com [service.sidefx.com]
Option #2
———-
You can also submit your bug using our online form at sidefx.com > Support > Submit Bugs and RFEs:
http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=768&Itemid=239 [sidefx.com]
No matter which of these options you use, there are a few key pieces of information that we need to know:
What platform you're on (Win, Linux, OSX) (32 bit or 64 bit)
What version of Houdini you're using. (eg. 14.0.258)
Steps on how to reproduce the bug with scene file or images if necessary.
Giving us info on your graphics card and driver is also helpful, especially if the bug you're logging is a display or OpenGL related issue.
Thanks for your co-operation!

I have not submitted the bug. I don't know how to do that.
No worries - there's a forum message stickied right near the top of this forum called ‘How to log bugs and rfe’s for Houdini' that tells you all about it.
I just logged BUG: 67897 for ya.

Are you guys using recent cuts? I recall we fixed a $HIP path issue in 14.0.209 - not sure if it's the same one you're hitting or not but it looks similar.

Not sure if you're limited to what you can install on your Surface Pro 2, but if you can grab the latest intel driver for that card, you should do so.

Thanks! You should log a bug for that. When you do, be sure to include details about your graphics card and driver.

You may also want to check our System Requirements page:
http://www.sidefx.com/sysreq [sidefx.com]
There's a good chance that if you're crashing on launch, you're hitting a graphics card issue due to an unsupported graphics card or an outdated driver.

Wren
I have been looking into using the H14 hair/fur tools for our next project but as I go through the testing process it keeps locking up our linux boxes every so often.
Trying to figure out if it is just a driver/linux issue or a bug.
Please log a bug with any details you can provide on which tools you were using, your machine specs, and a hip file if possible. Thanks!

Hi Kevin! The lovely ladies at support@sidefx.com can help you sort out your licensing issue. Sounds like you're clicking on the Houdini Indie icon as you should but for some reason, it's not seeing your Indie license.
Send them your license diagnostics when you contact them.

In my testing, AMD and NVIDIA workstation cards perform equally well. Everyone once and a well, either manufacturer could come out with a driver that has issues with Houdini but they generally deal with it pretty quickly.
