Does anyone have any info on how to do this or is it still only possible with the method used in the tissue shelf tool?
In general, is PBD/Vellum the future of tissue in Houdini?

UPDATE: I am able to get things working (sort of) by using the soft body shelf tool but no matter what stiffness I use in the vellum cloth, the muscles penetrate eachother. I tried adding substeps and constraint iterations which helps a bit but I still have intersections.
I also tried using the tetrahedral softbodies method from the help file but I can't get the muscles to follow the animation without the “match animation” from the vellum configure cloth node, and if I add that before the “distance from edges” constraint, everything explodes.

twodJust reporting that the problem persists in 17.506.
I think it's a bug in earlier Houdini versions - you can try turning the Transparency Quality down to “Low” (Effects tab of display options), that should work around it.

Yes, it does go away with set to low. It just looks a lot worse, like he has cataracts or something, lol.

The problem goes away when I switch to low-quality transparency but it looks a lot worse though.

Op and or anyone else reading this, Varomix just put out a vellum tutorial that shows how to combine strings and cloth with two different constraint nodes set to the different groups similarly.

It shows even through the head, walls… any geometry at all.
I have an Nvidia 1070 with current drivers, I tried all of the transparency/alpha tags but nothing seems to work.

In the second image you can see the specular highlights through the mesh.
Is there something I am doing wrong?

Here are some examples of the problem.
The speculars on the eyes are showing though the closed eyelids, back of the head, etc.

The viewport would look great without that.

With camera selected and the handle tool selected as well, I can't get the controls to show up in the viewport.

When I middle mouse button the OUT_fuel node the fields are all there but when I link to it in the SOP Path and add the proper fields (in volume source)the pyro sim doesn't recognize it. When I middle mouse the volume source node no fields show.

I think I figured it out.
I use a dual screen custom desktop and I just tried switching to another preset like animation and the handles came back. Then when I switched back to my custom desktop the handles remained.
It must be a display bug.

That is the behavior I would expect but this has been happening for quite a few versions recently.
I just started a new project and the handles won't show right off the bat with the smoke object selected while using the handle tool.

it baclWhen I start a new project and create the nodes they work fine but then after a while working when I go to adjust the smoke object, there is no red box with handles…

I created a fluid source and am bringing that into my simulation as a volume source but it is no longer showing the heat attribute that existed in the cached fluid source before.
How do I gain access to it in my pyro, I want the heat to use to drive emission in the Redshift Volume material, because the temperature voxel resolution is really low in renders when I try it that way. I have been working around it by setting the density field to heat in Sop To Dop bindings but this only works sometimes and is buggy and unpredictable for some reason.

Redshift doesn't seem to recognize the copy node, that is why I am doing it with a scatter by merging the template object at sop level.
Does anyone know how to do this in a way that Redshift understands?

Thanks guys, I will check out the odforce link and try to play with that vex. For now, I used the vops method in the Halloween instancing tutorial and it is working fine with redshift.
Now I would like to find a way to randomly blend between the Y axis world space normals and the point normals from the scatter so the trees look more natural.
Any ideas? I would prefer to do it in vops unless there is an easier way. Thanks again.
