Hi,

is it possible to make an HDR Lightprobe visible in viewport?

I want to see my light probe in viewport when I use it in environment light!
So it is easy to adjust the rotation of the light probe in relation to the scene.

Thanks

Houdini 12.0.: Environment lights can now be displayed as a viewport background. The light has to be enabled in the viewport, and “Display Environment Lights as Backgrounds” must be checked.
even though it doesn't have build number it is one build before 12.0.616
I didn't check it though so I don't know if it's the same as what you need
if not you can use old methods
- you can project the texture on sphere and parent that to env light to see map in viewport
- or you can just check with mirror ball in your scene with quick render from the cam an rotate until it matches mirror ball from shoot

Just tick Render Light Geometry in the Environment lights settings.

I booted my macPro now in windows vista … and tried the same under windows …. and everthing works with all Viewport Renderer (GL 3.2, GL 2.1, GL 1.2, H11)!!

Are there problems with the mac build?
I tried with build 12.0.621 under Windows Vista and Mac OSX Snowleopard!!!

it might be that the mac is limited to GL2.1

Mac OSX versions lower than Lion for sure only support up to GL2.1, cause that's how far apple went with OpenGL support before Lion. It's not Houdini's limitation, but the OS's.

I'm not a 100% sure if Lion supports GL3.2 though, sounds like it would.

Cheers
