Hello,

I'm just starting out with Houdini and wanted to import a vector floorplan from Illustrator to extrude in Houdini.

I've tried importing the file as AI, EPS, SVG - versions 3, 8, 9 and they all get the error message “unable to read file” and the node is striped red.

Any ideas how to get around this or fix it?

TIA

it worked with the version 3 and eps should also work.

what you can try:
* no pixeldata should be in it
* Fonts have to be convert to curves (otherwise you see nothing)

i test it with a simple ai file and it works(rectangle, text).

What I usually do is import that in Blender, usually as SVG and than export DXF which most of time works with Houdini.

Thanks mandrake0 and SreckoM,

I'll have a look into these options and see if it helps.
