Floating Ice Flip Simulation May 25, 2020, 6:41 a.m.

Hello all,

I hope I am posting this in the correct place. I am extremely new to this so I apologize if it's a very simple or silly question.

I am looking at creating a simple glass of water filling up, but with ice cubes that float to the top. I can fill a volume with particles and that is looking great. My rigid body Ice reacts to gravity and the particles react to the rigid body as they should. Though I am not sure how to get the particles to effect the rigidbody cce cube/s.

IE the Ice cube falls to the bottom and just stays there. The particles don't make it move or float. I have tried to use a Buoyancy Force with a fetch data node. I have set it to fetch the source from the flip object. But still nothing. Attached is a screen grab of the simulation tree. Again, very new to this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Much thanks

particle transition May 27, 2016, 11:27 a.m.

Hey all,

Very new to Houdini. I was wondering if someone could tell me how hard it is to set this up:

So a particle transition where the particles form an object, disperse and then form another object. I would love to work out how to do this but can't find any tutorials on it.

Any info or ideas would be hugely appreciated.

Much thanks,

Damian

Enivob, thank you so much for your response and for the scene.

I will dissect it to see exactly what you did. I hope you don't mind me asking another question.

How would one stop the texture from having jitter/dancing in the simulation? So as to maintain the look of the texture before it breaks up? I assume upping the particle count would do this or is there another trick?

Thank you so much for your response, it is greatly appreciated!
