VDB Volumetric Atmosphere Clouds March 31, 2021, 9:05 a.m.
HI guys, im pretty new to houdini and need some direction.
Screenshots are attached.
Project files are external because of file size limit (File Size:35MB) LINK [u.pcloud.link]
Im trying to create Volumetric planet clouds which will be exported for later use in cinema 4d.
I did a POP setup based on a "attribute from map" node with a Nasa cloud picture in it.
Then i used the created point cloud to copy spheres on it. Next step was a "vdb from polygon" and a "volume vop" node.
Here are some things that bothering me:
- is there a better way to this?
- im not satisfied with the amount of detail ( weak volume vop setup?)
- if i tweak the voxel size to get more details, the cooking time of the vdb is going crazy which makes sense. Is there a kind of sparse vdb node to get better performance?
It would be great if somone could take a look.
Thank you.
Christian.

Pyro with POP collisions (particles interacting with smoke) June 15, 2020, 9:47 a.m.
Thank you reuben94.
I have completely rebuilt the setup again.
This time I did not use the satic object node anymore.
Instead I converted the particles to VDB and added them as volume source / collision to the pyro setup.
For all who are interested here is a gif and the project file.

Pyro with POP collisions (particles interacting with smoke) June 10, 2020, 11:38 a.m.
Hi.
I'm new at houdini.
I'm trying to create a simulation where particles affect smoke.
I started simple.
A box that rotates and acts as a collider for pyro.
Gif Link [gifyu.com]
After this mini-project was successful, I tried to apply the principle to a POP simulation.
Unfortunately without success.

It would be great if someone could take a look at the hip file to show me the right direction.
I think im missing something.
