Karma XPU randomly stopped using GPU after crash Aug. 12, 2025, 11:57 p.m.
Hi folks, I'm facing a bit of an issue when rendering my scene. It's about 85 frames long. It's set to render using karma XPU, both in the render sttings and in the USD render ROP. It got through the first 50 frames without a hitch., it took about 8 mins/frame. After that however, it froze on a frame, so i restarted the houdini file and resumed from the frame it died on. But now, the renders are painfully slow, it takes about 25 minutes to render a frame. What I've managed to gather so far is that, XPU is no longer using the GPU, the load is being taken only by the CPU. I did a test render using XPU in the viewport and the Optix was at 0, or at best 3-4%. Can someone help me with fixing this? If this has something to do with VRAM, how would i go about rectifying it? I did also clear the cache from the cache manager, but that doesn't seem to help. If anyone knows how to fix this, I'd really appreciate some help, on a tight deadline. Thanks in advance!

Pyro sim not showing in solaris viewport nor kamra xpu/cpu Aug. 7, 2025, 7:44 p.m.
Hey, thanks for replying. I managed to get some help with this and got it working. Turns out, Karma and Solaris don't like it when the density field generated has 0 values. Deleting the density field got it to work
Pyro sim not showing in solaris viewport nor kamra xpu/cpu Aug. 7, 2025, 10:50 a.m.
Hey folks, in need of some help. I've made a pyro sim sourcing points from my geometry. I've set up the sim the way i want it, and everything looks great in the object viewport. However, when import the scene into solaris, nothing shows up. I've been trying to figure this out for quite a few weeks now, but i still don't know where I'm going wrong. Could someone please help with this? I'm fairly new to houdini, so my troubleshooting capabilities aren't that great yet.
