Render Region Error Dec. 8, 2007, 11:05 a.m.
Thanks Joe,
I've been meaning to dual boot with Linux for a while (fed up with vistas performance), so will try a linux setup of Houdini and see how I get on before troubling support.
cheers

Render Region Error Dec. 7, 2007, 4:23 a.m.
Hi everyone,
Well after being totally amazed at the $99 Apprentice edition deal, I stumped up the dollars, installed Houdini, grabbed my licenses and fired her up. What a great looking app…I have Houdini!!!…the world is a better place…etc…
Everything was going great, I grabbed a PBR ‘marbles and golden egg’ example scene from this months 3DWorld Mag (available from their website under the Q&A section for this months edition), hit the render region button, selected a portion of the scene and after a couple of seconds received a console error.
No licenses could be found to run this application.
Please check for a valid license server host
Sometimes though after the error, it does render the region….other times it doesn't. Also, it's only when I select the Mantra Node from the dropdown, default seems to be fine.
The license manager gives me the green light.
I'm running the latest 64bit daily build (9.0.802) on a quad core 6600 with 4Gb ram, running 64bit Vista Ultimate…(probably not a good start!)
I'm at work at the moment on my dual core lappie running the 32 bit version of Houdini but the uncommercial unlicensed one and the same scene renders regions perfectly.
Any pointers for when I get home this evening?
Even though I have this problem I'm champing at the bit to get some time with this amazing application….it's a shame my girlfriend/houdini widow doesn't share my enthusiasm….any tips here would also be useful
Thanks in advance.
