•• Multiple Houdini Courses | • Single Houdini Course | ☼ Houdini available for Project/Studio Use

Our Houdini training programs go far beyond teaching basic software commands—they demonstrate how Houdini serves as the backbone of the entire FX pipeline, from concept to final compositing. Students work on case studies inspired by real productions, learning naming conventions, data management, and version control, so they are ready to integrate seamlessly into professional environments. Sessions with industry FX leads further reinforce the importance of balancing creative thinking with technical precision.

The curriculum combines theory with practical, hands-on work. After a solid foundation in 3D fundamentals within the generalist master’s program, students delve into particle systems, fluid dynamics, volumetrics, and destruction techniques. Each topic includes detailed technical breakdowns, performance optimization tips, and direct comparisons between procedural workflows and traditional methods. Final projects involve fully integrated shots with compositing in Maya and Nuke, following real-world production standards.

Our educational offer includes two distinct formats designed to meet different needs and goals. The short live-streaming courses introduce the fundamentals of Houdini FX and are followed by an intermediate module that includes personalized feedback and mentoring sessions. Those seeking a comprehensive education can enroll in our Master in 3D Digital Production, where the FX module is integrated into a structured curriculum covering animation, lighting, and compositing—culminating in a studio-style final project and portfolio review. Both paths aim to build the creative vision and technical mastery that companies look for in the next generation of VFX professionals.

The exercises cover various aspects of Visual Effects, such as:

  • Procedural Modeling: Development of complex models using non-destructive, node-based workflows.
  • Particle Simulations: Creation and control of dynamic particle systems for effects such as sparks, dust, and magical phenomena.
  • Volumes and Fractures: Simulation of realistic volumetric effects and destruction mechanics, including debris and breakable structures.
  • Smoke and Explosions: Generation of high-impact smoke trails, explosions, and pyro simulations with control over shape and behavior.
  • Fluid Simulations: Reproduction of realistic liquid behavior, including splashes, pouring, and interaction with surfaces.
  • Various Visual Effects: Application of Houdini-generated FX into a production shot and final compositing in Maya and Nuke.
