Transitioning from a coder to a 3D artist. Houdini was the best option for me after I explored a different number of 3D software applications. I love the procedural workflow in Houdini and how easily accessible the attributes of the geometry are available to the user. This makes it a lot easier to focus on creating a good render and less time wasted on trying to figure out how to access certain geometry points or edges.
Hi, I'm not sure what you're referring to as custom activation, but I'll take a guess. I think you want to delay the solver activation to a specific frame? Sorry if I misunderstand. But if that's what you want, I made a blog post on how to control the solver activation using Houdini expressions, but it's using a different project as reference. https://bubblepins.com/blog/delay-sim-on-frame
The concept is exactly the same, you can even use the exact same Houdini expression as well.

Hi there,
I'm following your tutorial using Houdini 17.5 and not seeing the rbd connected faces node - do I need to upgrade to get these?
(love your tutorials!)

Thanks for watching!
Yeah SideFX added a bunch of new nodes to the rbd tools for Houdini 18, the rbd connected faces is in H18
Hope that helps!
