Transitioning from a coder to a 3D artist. Houdini was the best option for me after I explored a different number of 3D software applications. I love the procedural workflow in Houdini and how easily accessible the attributes of the geometry are available to the user. This makes it a lot easier to focus on creating a good render and less time wasted on trying to figure out how to access certain geometry points or edges.
Try checking if you have a shop_materialpath on the primitives attribute and delete it. If that isn't it, then try checking if there are seams and delete that? lol I remember that happened to me before once, but I can't remember how I fixed it. Usually when mysterious things like this happens, deleting the shop_materialpath and reapply the material node helps fix it for me.

Thanks for the useful tut!
Im having a tricky time getting rid of black seams around my UV islands though.
Is there some trick?
