To install Houdini 21.0 licenses, you must be running at minimum, the latest production version of the Houdini 20.0 license server sesinetd.

It is also recommend that you use sesictrl and the License Administrator (hkey) also at the latest production version of Houdini 20.0 at minimum.

Upgrades are provided to commercial licenses which have an active support contract (AUP).
Please contact your account manager or sales@sidefx.com if your licenses are off support and would like to obtain the latest Houdini version.

It is not enough that you install the latest Houdini release.
You need to apply the upgrades to your existing installed licenses for them to be upgraded to the latest version.

You may install Houdini using the launcher or the old-style installer.

You may run older versions of Houdini with the latest released license.

Using the License Administrator is the easiest way to upgrade licenses.
You need to run the License Administrator on the machine on which the licenses are installed.

The Houdini 21.0 License Administrator has been redesigned and is different than previous versions.
You can still use the License Administrator from 20.0 or 20.5 to install your upgrades. To install upgrades using an older License Administrator, please click here .

To install your license upgrades

1. Go to your account drop-down menu in the top right corner of the License Administrator.
   
2. Select the Login option. Use the email and password for your SideFX license account.
   
3. Select Entitlements and any upgrades available to the existing licenses should be listed
   
4. You can either press the "Select All" button and then press Install. Or, you can manually select which licenses to upgrade by changing the quantity box from 0 to the same value as the Quantity Allowed column associated with the installed license.
   
5. Once upgraded, the license version should be at 21.0.
