hi Guys,

I've downloaded a copy of your free apprentice software because I require an instanced particle adjustment and maya just aint cutting it.
The thing is I am due to pitch a test on monday so it's all a bit hairy.
So I'd like to know:
I need a field of approx 1000 instanced agents. They are all standing idle, each with a card in their hands. From the ‘helicopter’ we see them all, with a certain amount of randomisation, raise their cards and reveal the texture on the cards. But here is the kicker: each card is a small tile of the entire image ie I need to somehow have each card show only that particular area of the uv area so when they all show their cards they collectively make up the image.
My planned approach was to use emit the particles on a place then use the instanced particles uv birth position to get that uv position in the image and somehow crop a small area out of the iimage etc. But like I said I don't think this is possible with maya.
Can anybody tell me how to go about this in, like, 3 easy steps… :-)
i have the weekend…

You could make a grid or something that is the shape of the whole area of cards. Uv that object and attribute transfer those uv's to all of your card objects. Not sure if this is the best way to go about it but it is one.
