Display of Volumes in viewport sometimes is strange

when I scrub through the cache of some voxel simulations some frames display like they would have only a very low resolution. middle mouse clicking the node shows that it is not. also rendering shows normal behavior, just ogl is strange. next frame is ok
does anyone else get this. I must admit I have just a geforce no quadro

press d in the viewport. by default the viewport limits the displayed resolution of volumes. cant remember off the top of my head what tab its under, but youll see it.

its under texture -> 3d texture -> limit resolution. defaults to 128^3. also wont really change the resolution but make sure hdr rendering is enabled under effects.

There was a bug fixed relating to volume texture resolution when the volume size was changing over time, in 12.1.38. It would cause the volume to blur slightly at times.
