Importing Mesh with UVs

Hi,

So I have a question, when I import a mesh using OBJ or any other type I've attempted, the mesh comes in to Houdini split according to the UV islands. I.E. two identical points at the seams.

Why?

When I fuse the points, the UV islands get fused as well, so that's not gonna work.

My thought process is that Houdini wants a unique point for each corresponding UV point which would require duplicates on the mesh or for no duplicates in the UVs…

This happens when exporting from Blender or Maya.

Is this a bug somewhere or is it just my nativity?

Any info will help, just not really looking for a work around though Thank you

Okay so turns out(perhaps a little more obvious then I'd like to admit), exporting as a Collada file fixes the issue.

So it turns out now I can't export or even import OBJ files at all any more… I've tried multiple builds and and meshes and still no luck.

I would think its a bug but it seems like someone would have already noticed and fixed it by now…

Are there import export settings somewhere that I'm unaware of?

How do you export obj file from Houdini ?
Save Geometry Menu or using Output Driver node ?
