Two questions, one general, one specific.
Is there a guide or a handy to do list available online to help beginners optimize their fluid sims? I know I have a workstation powerful enough to handle a gazillion particles (20 core), but there's obviously something in my simple scene (a liquid pour) that's slowing things down.
A to-do list or general optimization guide would be ideal - something that outlines the gotchas - because I don't want to be the guy who posts scene after scene looking for help on every little thing… but as a beginner, I don't really know what the culprit might be. I've looked at why I thought to be the big ones - particle separation, substeps, etc - but I think I'm missing something Houdini specific.
After 20 frames, it's 2-3 minutes a frame for a 1.9 million particle sim, which seems to be rather slow for the system (at least in my mind - maybe my expectations are too high).
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Luke
