So I have a model that I pulled from Maya and made as the rigid body that comes out of the Sand. It looks really good animation wise but the Sand particles explode too much and would like to have them just roll off his skin instead of flying all over the place. Please help.

Attached is a sample of what I am doing but its not the full version with 380 frames of the zombie standing completely up.

Let me know if this helps or if anyone needs to see the current file.

Thank you

First, test to see if your geometry is properly computing substeps. If your zombie teleports on frame boundaries, you will get explosions no matter what you do.

Change the playbar to turn off integer stepping, set stepping to 0.1, and make sure you see smooth motion. (Controls are on the extreme bottom right of the Houdini Window, just above the Manual button)

Next, the sledge-hammer approach to stop particles from flying is with Max Acceleration. You have a standard gravity of around -10, so setting this to a multiple of graivity stops particles from picking up speed when they react. A max acceleration of 30 would probably dampen the strays down.

Also, I do not think you have any explicit constraints, so set that weight to 0 for faster performance.

Thanks for the info. I did do a Test Render last night with the grain separation at 2.0 and few other adjustments and it came out awesome. But, I am going to try with the info you gave me before I go to sleep to see how that works as well. I'll post up a sample tomorrow to show progress

Thanks again.
