Hello, I have a very quick question.

Is it possible to download older versions of Houdini Apprentice or are we restricted to just the latest version?

Thanks

You can find some older builds under Download > Daily Builds. Also, there are a limited number of even older ones on the SESI ftp: ftp://ftp.sidefx.com

Thanks a lot.

The older the better. I'm trying to find a version that will run on my ancient laptop.

does this link still work? - I have version 16, but would also like to have version 15 to open older work that I have done.

The latest daily builds of each major version back to 12.0 are available at: https://www.sidefx.com/download/daily-builds/ [sidefx.com]

I too am trying to find a version that will run on my ancient laptop.

tonight I D/Led both :
houdini-12.1.1617-win64-vc9.exe
& houdini-13.0.1067-win64-vc9.exe
…but when it came to installing the Apprentice Key I got error messages like:

could not access page: license.sidefx.com:80/client/get_noncommercial_license_auto.php

…or manually get licenses from
license.sidefx.com/get_nc_license.php

(see attached “could_not_get_nc_license_php.jpg”)

v16.5.268 got an nc license, but is far too New to run on my sad old laptop!

ALSO: the “Manually Enter Keys…” is grayed-out in the hkey.exe menu
& “the license server does not allow modifications from this machine.”
So the bit about “manually getting licenses” did not help in this case.

? Q: Any way I can get an nc license for H12 or H13 running on my old laptop?

As long as your machine is 64-bit, (you might have to install a 64-bit operating system if you have a 64-bit processor and currnently have a 32-bit operating system installed), you can install Houdini 16.5, get a license, and then that license should be valid in older versions of Houdini. Even though Houdini 16.5 might not run, the 16.5 license administrator should hopefully still work. You can apparently also try just running Houdini 16.5, and it will try to request a license before any OpenGL stuff, so even though Houdini will fail to start, it would get the license.

Houdini 16.5 Does & Did get an Apprentice, but then it crashes because my laptop is old.

All the other old builds, refuse to run because keys are specifically named to the version you are trying to run, even if it is a free Apprentice license.

The “Manually Enter Keys…” is also Grayed Out on the Working 16.5 hkey.exe License Manager.

The 16.5 key does me no good for the older Houdini versions

Any other ideas will be most appreciated. ..?

Do you know if the build 16.5.323 exists for OSX Sierra ?
The title indicates it's been compiled for High Sierra, will it still work on Sierra?

Thanks
