Hello, I just started houdini few minuets ago with some tutorial videos. I tried to make a box as the video shows by clicking the box icon on the create shelf, but it kept saying that “ NoneType' object has no attribute 'childTypeCategory.” and failed to create a box. Whatever I clicked on that shelf, this warning popped up. So I reinstalled the program, but the same thing happened. I have no idea what “childTypeCategory” means and how to handle this Anyone helps me out please?
It would help if you could give a bit of information about the system you are running Houdini on, wether or not you have some additional Python installed that might interfere with Houdini's Python (the error you quote seems to be a Python error), how you start Houdini (shell? Desktop? Remote control under water?) etc. ANYTHING that might help to circle down on the problem
Another good way would be to use Houdini's “About” function in the help menu, click on “details” (or is it “extended”?) and SAVE the output, send that to support@sidefx.com and describe your problem. They are very likely to be able to solve the problem.

I started “houdini apprentice” on my macbook, and it wasn't under remote control nor through that kind of program. Seems like nothing wrong with that… With your kind suggestion, I will send this problem to support team. Thank you Marc!
