viewport color quality?

Hi!

I was making a wood floor and colored it brown. I also did an overlay so each planks would have a different brightness. I noticed that some planks are tinted red, some green and others purple. At first I thought my vex code for the overlay blending was wrong but when I rotate the perspective around, I can see some planks changing colors (green, red, purple, etc.).

I get that there's some sort of compression to allow better framerate. Is there a way to get more precise color representation in viewport?

Thanks.

Can you upload your scene please.

It's not clear on if you are using a texture or not, as the Display Options/Textures does have compression options.

I'm using point @Cd.

Here's a simple example of a colored sphere. You can clearly see the color banding. It's like there isn't enough bit depth to show gradients properly.

SOLVED!

Display Options -> Scene -> HDR Rendering.

nice! you'll still notice a touch of banding and I think that only a 10bit display will get rid of that. Houdini unfortunately doesn't do any dithering.

The HDR option is good enough for me!
