i would like to ask someone to help me confirm that i have the right size setup to finally understand that i am using Houdini size parameter correctly

is this size in houdini bellow

0.018
0.035
0.003

equal to the correct size in MM bellow

18 MM
35 MM
3 MM

if i understand correctly houdini is reading size in meters

so by default this should now read as

0.018 meters
0.035 meters
0.003 meters

by simply doing a Millimetres to Meters conversion

is my understanding correct?

By size, do you mean for physical simulations, or just for modelling? By default houdini uses meters for simulations, but for modelling there are no units, the numbers are raw values and are open to interpretation. If you import a model with a known scale, then other objects in the world would need to match that scale. Often models from other programs are created in mm or cm, when importing these models, the values a not interpreted, and can therefore appear much larger than anticipated.

thank you for that now i understand where i was wrong

yes i was meaning size parameters for Polygonal modeling now i understand the correct way to use houdini

thank you for your help

You can also change the unit length from the Houdini preferences, but I suggest to keep it in meters.
