Hi,
A few times I've read online that Houdini performance is really slow on macOS. (and best on Linux, and normal on Windows? anyways…)
So my question is:
Would the performance be better (on Windows) via Bootcamp, on a Mac?
I guess you could phrase it also this way:
Is it the Mac hardware or the macOS that makes Houdini run slow?
Thanks for any help or advice :-)
(Also did a quick Google search, and found that with a bit of pain you could also install Linux via the macOS bootcamp. Would this be preferable to Windows via bootcamp, for Houdini performance?)

In my tests on a dual-booting Hackintosh, Houdini performance is comparable in both OSX and Windows….not sure where you read what you read but I haven't run into definitive data that would point on there being substantial speed disparities between the two machines all things being equal.
I have heard several people mention that running Houdini (or other apps in general) in a tightly run Linux machine results in sometimes up to a 25% increase in performance (as measured for instance in simulation computing). I don't know enough about Linux to really comment, except what I do know about it is that it's not for me.
I don't know what hardware you're running on, but to answer your question – hardware is the topmost factor in how fast any app runs (Houdini, Blender, Maya, Resolve, Premiere, AfterEffects, and on and on). If you want more speed, you gotta get a faster machine and that's really all there is to it.
