Is it possible to have a ramp inside my HDA controller, driving another ramp inside my node tree? RGB or SPLINE ramp, with the ability to add or remove points, change color, retaining all functionality, all done from my master controller. Seems a bit tricky so far.

yes that worked, for some reason because i copied the parameters from one parameter interface to the other, the ramps were linked without having copied and pasted relative references. maybe it is a bug
