Vertex Animation (VAT) Normals flickering in Unreal

Hello!

I've been trying out vertex animation in unreal. Everything appears to be fine except that the normals have sharp edges at times and flicker when in motion. I hope this isn't an issue with lower-poly vertex animations cause we have to keep the export at or below 1k prims. I also tried soften normals and it didn't appear to help in unreal.

I'm using Houdini 18.0.348 and Unreal 4.25.

I have the same issue, but with the character. Normals are jittering.

I still haven't figured out how to get them to completely stop flickering.

It seems it's a lot to do with the lower amount of tris I was aiming for. So allowing it some more tris, turning off equalize edges and using a polyreduce to get it to as close as the end tri count as possible before the Labs Vertex Anim Textures helped. Not perfect though.
