Bullet impacts effect

Hi,

I want to destroy a concrete wall. So that the top layer cracks/collapses without changing the inside of the concrete. As an example, bullet impacts effect.

I'm not very familiar with FX, but I have some basic knowledge. Can someone point me to a good tutorial, maybe give me directions on the steps.

Probably not a good place to be then, particularly for Houdini. You'll get frustrated, and then eventually decide that Houdini is not for you.

My advice is to rely on stock elements like these coupled with bullet impact textures. I think they will get you 90% there:

Thanks for the advice.
Sorry for my English. I didn't express exactly what I wanted.
I am working with models from a finished game in Unreal Engine 4. I am trying to destroy a wall, but the concrete is breaking down in large pieces. This is unrealistic because destruction is not multi-layered. There are plaster, primer, reinforcement and other. I need the destruction to happen gradually. The inner and outer layers were destroyed separately from each other (like the second picture).

if you are working with UE, you need to add bullet decal with POM, and setup a particle system that emits some debris on impact

all of this and more is explained in the "Control" game presentation, it's somewhere in Houdini youtube channel, search for it

You got to think realistic on this one. If you want the destruction to feel like there are different layers then you need to model those different layers, fracture them based on their shapes/structures. Then constraint them to each other. Do your sim and it'll look like you want it to be.
