How do I export an scatter to USD with V-Ray material?

Hello, I'm still a bit new to Houdini, but I have been trying to find a round-trip workflow from Maya/vray/houdini with USD. I'm basically trying to scatter trees then export to USD. Is there a simple way to export the scatter that has the v-ray material attached? I have tried the USD rop node, and that did not work or render in maya. I have tried a few things in Solaris/LOPs as well but haven't had any luck either. Only thing that did work was exporting it as a VRSCENE.

How do I make sure there is a material attached before I export the USD? Thanks again for any help or tips on this.

I don't know about working in Maya, but VRay has usd material support for Houdini Solaris. That's the only way to export USD with materials that I know of--using USD material prims and USD material relationships baked into the scene.

Ok, that makes sense. I have to dig into Solaris a bit more and make sure the materials are attached.
