A simple question about navigation.
I would like to speed up the work process a little.
Is there a possibility or plugin to organize a shelf with frequently used nodes?
There is a tool bar where you can add any nodes, but it is extremely inconvenient because it is small, located far from the network and, as far as I know, it cannot be made horizontal.
I understand that you can use hotkeys, but there are not enough keys for even a small part of the nodes, all are already used to work with navigation. And it takes time to constantly enter the same nodes from the keyboard.

I would like to be similar to Nuke. Have a large list of icons with the most frequently used nodes, which you can pull out from the side, click and immediately get.

Hey PVok,

I know what you mean. You could define some radial menus in the network editor that would contain nodes of your liking. The problem with that is that it is not context-sensitive atm. (I submitted an RFE for that so hopefully, someday it will be...)
The thing I use is this context-sensitive hotkey system by Yunus Balcioglu Gumroad page [animatrixx.gumroad.com]. It's awesome. It needs some time to set up properly but then it becomes irreplaceable. The cool thing about it is it can summon little menus by shortcut housing all your favorite nodes.

Cheers

You can drag the shelf to wherever you need it. I wouldn't know about vertical alignment, though.

Oh, a useful thing, I remember trying to find it. Thanks

Yes, this shelf would be very useful if it could be positioned vertically.

Probably Python then.

Regarding keyboard entry, the Tab menu is very lenient with what you need to type to find a node.

For e.g. "ctp" will return Copy to Points.

It doesn't need to be the first letter either. Any substring will work. For e.g. "sam" will return Resample, or "pvo" for Point VOP.

For nodes that don't have a handy short form, if you put that node on your own custom shelf, you can label it something short, and that will show up in the Tab menu. For example, you can put the Transform node on a shelf, and label it "xf", and that will be your Tab menu text. You can even give it a single letter, like "t".

In fact, now that I think of it, I should do this for nodes I frequently use, like "n" for Null, "f" for File and "t" for Transform, will save me many clicks. Thanks me!

For Merge, if you select multiple nodes, and then hold Alt as you drag from any 1 output, it will automatically merge those nodes for you without having to type anything.

Also, you can put entire networks into a single shelf button, so if there are common setups you use (say File > Clean > PolyReduce), you can select all those nodes and drag them to the shelf as a single item, and they will be saved along with any parameter changes you entered on them.
