Can i save snapshots in mPlay like yo do in Solaris? so that i have a gallery inside mPlayer

You can save the images to disk, but there's no gallery.

mplay is optimized for realtime flipbook playback, although it is useful as a framebuffer for holding test renders. I'm not sure how they can expand the UX of a flipbook tool to include a gallery. Some dedicated framebuffers have galleries (some sort of thumbnail, list or tree view) but don't typically do playback.
