Hello,

I'm fairly new to Solaris in Houdini and USD files but I really started to like it. Am I missing something or Redshift can't render USD Preview Surface materials correctly?

When I import a USDZ file from Sketchfab, every material is a USD Preview Surface material by default. Karma, Storm and Houdini GL can read them with textures without problems but Redshift can't. I haven't found an option to convert them automatically to Redshift supported materials. Do I have to rebuild/replace those materials with Redshift shaders or I have missed some magical button or checkbox?

I attached screenshots of viewport rendering with Karma, OpenGL and Redshift of a police car from Sketchfab.

I use Houdini the newest Houdini 19.5.435 + the newest Redshift 3.5.12.

Because REDSHIFT cannot read the internal file of USDZ, the texture cannot be read. You can use the editmaterial node to manually specify the location of the texture.
But I believe this is not the best solution.
