Having read the announcement that future Houdini releases will not be supported on linux kernels below 2.6… I've upgraded one of my Debian Sarge (2.4.27-2-386) workstations to Debian Etch (2.6.18-4-686)… with a clean install.
Everything seems hunky-dory so far… X, remote mounts, rsh, etc.
My network license server (w2) is a workstation running debian (2.4 kernel), and h8.1.866 (linux_i686_gcc3.2).
The problem I'm having is that my upgraded workstation (w3) running houdini-8.1.866 (linux_i686_gcc3.4) can no longer get licenses from w2.
Running hscript gives me…
hscript version 8.1.866 (compiled on 02/03/07)
No licenses could be found to run this application
Please check for valid license server.
Running hkey gives me…
The license server on w2 does not
permit this machine to read licenses from it.
SESI_LMHOST is set to w2
I do not want to upgrade my main workstation/license server to etch until I know everything works fine on my “test” (w3) machine.
Any ideas what may be the problem?
I suspect a missing linux package or incorrect permissions with the clean install of etch.
