Hello @SideFX Team (and everyone else of course),

do you guys plan on releasing a dedicated Houdini Engine Build for Unreal Fortnite? Is there something in the making or is it unlikely that there will be a release?

Thank you, Jaden

Hello Jaden,

I think Epic is trying to make the engine attractive to the younger Fortnite community, i.e. introduce it into their Unreal economy. So ultimately the target is the Unreal Engine itself, where the Houdini Engine is already established. I think from Side FX's point of view, it wouldn't make much sense to invest there.

On the other hand, Epic is developing their own procedural system that will provide the essential functionality in the long-term.

Hi Vik, Thanks for your reply.I think you got some good points there!
..on the other side if the Houdini Engine would work already (as UEFN is just a stripped down UE5 version), they might aswell just release to people who want to use it for UE FN. I think I heard somewhere that EPIC Games own some part of SideFX Company, right? So it might not be the case that they see each other as competitors but rather encourage the use of both software packages. I think Houdine engine would be a great addition to UEFN.

Anyways, I was just curious about it since I recently started learning the games side of the software.

Cheers, Jaden

Oh, that's new to me. Found the article here [www.sidefx.com]. Ok, yes that changes the perspective of course. Thanks for the hint.
