How to highlight elements?

I've got an attribute wrangler that edits groups and I'm using the OUTPUT SELECTION GROUP on the second page to have houdini highlight the elements in the group I'm editing.

The issue is if you have two groups with the same name (one for points and one for edges for example), houdini doesn't know which one it's supposed to be highlighting.

i have a hack around this but it's terrible
- delete group node to delete the other group
- new detail wrangler that is blank and highlights the remaining group

i'd assume there's gotta be a better way to do this.. like you type in "e@group" to tell houdini you mean the edge group named 'group' or something....?

or i assume there's a different way to highlight elements, because there has to be other ways to do it for interactive tools and whatnot and maybe that's what i'm supposed to use?

thanks in advance!

You can do it using the Group Combine SOP.

Just do mygroup = mygroup and set Group Type to the type of group you want to highlight.
