Vellum grains never settle down

Hello,

I am working on a vellum grains sim where I have a piece of sand and I will drop some objects at it later on.

I have built the grain source that looks like some small dunes and I would like the grains to keep that shape,or at least something close to it, while remaining completely still like an actual piece of sand.

Pretty much on every tutorial I've seen their grains settle after 10-50 frames. On mine even after 600 frames, the grains are still moving and "trying" to settle down.

I have tried velocity damping all the way to 1, friction, increasing substeps even to 12 and still the grains keep moving.

I'm not sure what I am doing wrong but any help will be greately appreciated.

I am attatching the hip file below.

Thank you.

Try turning off Jitter and use the Sphere Packing method.
Using Houdini Indie 20.5

Thank you for your reply.

I feel like the sphere packing method makes it way too rigid since I want it to behave like dry sand.

Turning off jitter combined with the Dither Surface option helped a lot though so I will keep working on that unless there is a better way to do these things.
