Hello,

I am trying to create mesh lights in Solaris so that I can have lights with custom shapes, but I am having trouble getting anything to work.

I tried using the "Geometry Light" LOP (where there exists a Redshift tab) but I was not seeing anything. I also tried to make a Light LOP and set a mesh object (Redshift > Shape > Mesh Object) to determine the shape, but when I do this, things go black.

I found documentation for mesh lights in Redshift for rendering in the old /obj context, but is there a specific way to do this in Solaris? Are geometry lights in Redshift supported in Solaris in general?

I am using Houdini 21.0.440 and Redshift 2026.1.1.

Any pointers would be helpful! Thanks

New geometry light node is probably not supported.

Mesh light is supported, but you should check the Redshift forum for info.

Yes, you were right -- I was trying to use the new Geometry Light LOP node. It required the use of the Redshift "shape primitive" param.

Thanks for the reply.
